Tool
ZIP code lookup by address
Type a street address, get its ZIP code — checked against the Census Bureau's address database, not guessed from the city.
How it works
Your address is matched against the US Census Bureau's TIGER geocoder — the federal address database behind the census itself. The match returns the address as officially recorded, its ZIP code, and coordinates; we then attach everything our directory knows about that ZIP: county, time zone, area codes, demographics, planting zone and more, each with its source.
Matching tips: include the city and state (or existing ZIP), and leave out apartment or unit numbers. Very new streets can lag in the federal database; if an address will not match, the Where am I? tool or a city search will get you to the right ZIP page another way. For mail to unusual addresses (ZIP+4, PO Boxes), USPS remains the final authority.
Privacy
The address you type is sent once to the Census geocoder to find the match and is stored by neither service. It never appears in this page's web address, and this page has no ads and no trackers. Developers: this lookup is GET /v1/geocode?address=… on the free CodePostalPro API, with the same no-storage guarantee.
